Egypt’s FM Shoukry extends condolences to government, people of Iran over death of President Ebrahim Raisi

CAIRO – 20 May 2024: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the tragic death of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a horrific plane crash.

“May God have mercy on the deceased and their companions, and grant their families and the brotherly Iranian people patience and solace.” Shoukry added according to the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid.

 

 

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian have died in a helicopter crash in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan, Iranian Press TV confirmed, Monday.

 

The Iranian President's plane was completely burned in the crash and no sign of life was found in the helicopter wreckage, al Qahera news channel reported

Head of the Iranian Red Crescent confirmed that the bodies of all those on board with the late President Raisi are being transported to the city of Tabriz.

Egypt mourned, with great sadness and grief, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and their companions, who passed away on Sunday, May 19, following a painful accident.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi extended on Monday, his sincere condolences and sympathy to the brotherly Iranian people. Sisi also prays to God Almighty that the deceased Iranian President and the departed may rest in God’s mercy, and grant their families patience and solace.
