Egyptian official reveals figures on 1st phase of universal health insurance introduction

CAIRO – 19 May 2024: Chairman of the Public Authority for Universal Health Insurance Ihab Abou Eish stated Sunday that the number of the beneficiaries enrolled in the system had amounted to five million.

His statements came during the conference held to display the outcomes of introducing the system in six governorates, that are Port Said, Luxor, Ismailiyah, South Sinai, Suez, and Aswan, as a first phase.

The official, who also serve as deputy finance minister for the treasury, revealed that the number of service providers subscribed to the system had hit 322, including 226 public medical facilities, while the rest, constituting 30 percent, belong to the private sector.
