CAIRO – 14 May 2024: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani stressed the necessity of realizing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ending Israeli military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah, warning of the danger of Israel’s continued occupation of the Palestinian side of Rafah border crossing and closing it to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid into the war-ravaged Palestinian enclave.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said the talks took place on the sidelines of a meeting of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers in Manama, Bahrain, to prepare for the 33rd Arab Summit which will convene on Thursday.
Shoukry praised the distinguished level of organization of the preparatory meetings for the Manama-hosted Arab Summit, expressing his best wishes to Bahrain during its presidency of the event.
The two top diplomats lauded the historical relations between Egypt and Bahrain and emphasized keenness on fostering cooperation in various fields for the benefit of their peoples.
