CAIRO – 14 May 2024: Egypt is committed to providing all the necessary support for efforts aiming to reach a sustainable and all-inclusive political solution for the Yemeni crisis and to uphold Yemen's sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity, affirmed Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
This came during a meeting held on Tuesday with Yemeni Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Shaye Mohsen al Zindani, on the sidelines of his participation in the Bahrain-hosted preparatory meeting of the Arab League (AL) Summit.
During the meeting, the two sides affirmed their categorical rejection of the threats to navigation security in the Red Sea, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
The meeting also tackled ways of boosting cooperation between Egypt and Yemen, added the spokesman, noting that Shoukry reaffirmed Egypt's support for Yemen and its legitimate government.
He also emphasized Egypt's keenness on promoting cooperation with Yemen through resuming the mechanism of strategic dialogue between the two countries, added the spokesman.
Shoukry was also keen to get acquainted with the current conditions in Yemen along with the regional and international efforts, which primarily aim to reach a sustainable solution to the Yemeni crisis and entrench security in the country, according to the spokesman.
For his part, the Yemeni foreign minister extended thanks to Egypt over its supportive stances to Yemen and its hosting of and constant support and care for hundreds of thousands of Yemeni refugees.
