CAIRO – 11 May 2024: A high-level source said that Egypt told all concerned parties that Israel bears responsibility for the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, Extra News reported.

Egypt’s comments come after the failure of the recent round of indirect Cairo-host negotiations between the Hamas Movement and Israel to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and a prisoner swap deal. Israel’s KAN reported that according to Palestinian sources, in Egypt, there is still reluctance to announce the collapse of negotiations for the exchange deal. Instead, they are waiting for the United States to reach an agreed-upon plan to overcome the gaps in the deal.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that 150,000 Palestinians have fled from Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip since Monday.

The relief organization added on X: “At least 300,000 people affected as further areas across [the] GazaStrip receive new evacuation orders today, both towards central Rafah in the south AND #Jabalia in north #Gaza.”

However, Al-Qahira News channel reported that the Israeli occupation army confirms approximately 300,000 individuals have fled from eastern Rafah, Palestine.

The Israeli occupation army threatens a full-scale invasion of the Palestinian city of Rafah, which serves as the last sanctuary for displaced individuals in the beleaguered sector. Since the beginning of the ground operation launched by the occupation forces on Gaza Strip last October 7th, citizens are urged to move from the northern and central areas of the sector to the south, under the pretext of being "safe zones."

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced Saturday, that the death toll from the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7th has risen to nearly 35,000.

The ministry stated in a statement that the number of fatalities from the Israeli assault on Gaza has reached 34,971, with 218 deaths reported in the attack on Gaza.

In another development, the ministry reported the discovery of 80 bodies in 3 mass graves in the courtyards of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex and dozens of bodies inside the complex's departments.
