CAIRO - 7 May 2024: The French government has tasked senior officials with launching an investigative inquiry into political Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood in France.

The government has appointed the Ministers of Interior and Foreign Affairs, along with the Minister of State for European Affairs, Ambassador François Guéant, and Governor Pascal Courtade, to assess the Muslim Brotherhood's movement in France and its relationships with other European branches, revealing its significant role in disseminating this ideological system.

In a statement, the government highlighted that this is an official mission entrusted to the French state's Minister of Interior to verify the Muslim Brotherhood's presence in France, including its discourse, connections, structures, and activities. The report will be submitted to the President of the Republic next autumn.

The mission will be responsible for issuing a report in the fall to assess the impact of political Islam in France, analyzing the objectives and methods employed by the Muslim Brotherhood in this context, and aligning current methods with the counter-separatist policy to address them.

The mission will benefit from the support of relevant state interests and will engage with experts, researchers, and qualified organizations on this subject. It will ensure that its work includes analyzing foreign examples in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa facing similar phenomena.
