Palestinians crowded fleeing their homes in Gaza under Israeli continous bombing - file
CAIRO - 7 May 2024: Louise Wooddridge, an official in the media department at UNRWA, who is currently in Gaza, denounced the evacuation orders issued by the Israeli occupation forces to the displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area in Rafah, Palestine.
Wooddridge pointed out that the United Nations rejects these evacuation orders because they are considered forced displacement, and also stressed that it will not be a party to any forced displacement of people in Gaza. She stressed that there is no place where Gazans in Palestinian Rafah can go.
The UN official confirmed that more than 400,000 people reside in the Al-Mawasi area, according to the latest UNRWA estimates, which reported an influx of displaced people to the area from nearby Khan Yunis.
Wooddridge said that Al-Mawasi is already an overcrowded area and does not have the necessary infrastructure to accommodate such a large number of displaced people.
