CAIRO - 4 May 2024: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced that 49 million visits had been recorded to receive screening and medical awareness services, as part of the President's sustainable initiative to support Egyptian women’s health, since its launch in July 2019 until the end of last March.
The official spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar called on women to periodically check on their health condition through the services provided by the sustainability initiative, stressing that early diagnosis and detection of breast tumors contributes to reducing the burden on the patient and the state through effective response to the treatment protocols provided by the initiative free of charge, in accordance with the latest international standards.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the initiative follows the latest international protocols for treating breast cancer, through 14 centers affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Population, in addition to activating those protocols in 14 centers affiliated with the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, free of charge, pointing out that these centers are being prepared for applied research with the aim of finding advanced centers in oncology treatment, within the vision of the political leadership to pay attention to the public health of citizens.
Abdul Ghaffar pointed out that the initiative targets women starting from the age of 18 years, and includes detecting non-communicable diseases (diabetes, blood pressure, measuring weight and height, determining the body mass index, and the level of obesity or overweight), in addition to raising awareness of the uncommon risk factors that cause non-communicable diseases. In addition to raising awareness about reproductive health and family planning.
He said that the treatment of infected women, whether subject to health insurance or the treatment system at state expense, is being followed up. He further added that this comes as part of the effort to raise the efficiency of service providers; In addition to providing training services to medical teams, including (doctors, nurses, and radiology technicians).
