CAIRO – 29 April 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi received on Monday President of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović at Ittihadiya presidential Palace.
The official reception ceremony was held at the palace in the presence of Egypt's First Lady Entissar El-Sisi, and the First Lady of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the national anthems of both countries were played.
During a joint press conference, Monday President Abdel Fattah al Sisi said that Egypt was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, as it took its responsibility as a country that sponsors peace in the world through its participation in the peacekeeping and peace-building process in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Sisi also affirmed Egypt's firm stance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Cairo’s readiness to cooperate with Bosnia and Herzegovina to achieve stability and development.
Sisi welcomed Bosnia and Herzegovina President Denis Bećirović to Cairo, adding: “I confirm my confidence that this visit enriches bilateral relations between the two countries.”
Sisi congratulated Bećirović on the European Council’s recent approval to start negotiations for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s joining to the European Union, wishing them success.
President Sisi said during the conference that he held important discussions with Bećirović, which reflected a common desire to strengthen bilateral relations.
He also confirmed both countries keenness to deepen and develop all forms of cooperation between them
President Sisi indicated that the discussions witnessed reviewing efforts to enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
During their discussions, the two presidents also welcomed further efforts to enhance tourism exchange by launching a direct flight line from some Bosnian cities to the city of Hurghada, which will contribute to stimulating tourism movement between the two countries.
President Sisi stressed that his discussions with Bećirović reflected the convergence of views on all regional issues of common interest.
“We agreed on the necessity of making all efforts to calm regional tension and achieve stability in the Middle East and to join international efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip. All of this alongside the necessity of passing aid and to start negotiations with the aim of reaching a just and sustainable political solution to the Palestinian issue based on of the two-state solution,” Sisi said
President Sisi thanked Bećirović for inviting to him to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In his speech during the joint press conference, President of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović thanked President Sisi ‘personally’ and the ‘friendly Egyptian people’ for all what has been provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina by Cairo so far
Bećirović noted that last year marked the 30th anniversary for establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries
‘The friendship between the two countries has been proven in many previous situations between the two countries, and for this reason we support the territorial integrity, stability and sovereignty of Egypt, as we have all respect and appreciation for Egypt as a leading country in of the Arab world and Africa’, Bećirović said
Addressing President Sisi, Bećirović said that he aspires for Sisi to be the first Egyptian president to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 21st century.
President Bećirović also stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina believe the ‘only just solution’ to the situation in Gaza is the establishment of the State of Palestine next to the State of Israel.
