CAIRO – 28 April 2024: Assistant to Health and Population Minister Mohamed Hassani told press Sunday that the 100 Million Healthy Lives Initiative launched by President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi in 2018 enabled the diagnosis of 250,000 individuals with liver cancer.

The initiative that was aimed at a nationwide screening for hepatitis C and chronic diseases enabled diagnosis and treatment free of charge. In addition to the abovementioned disease, 118,000 were diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver.

The ministry's spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar stated in 2022 that 70 million citizens had been screened, and that 2.2 million had been diagnosed with hepatitis C. Further, 19.4 million medical services were provided to citizens diagnosed with different types of diseases.
