New Gameat el-Dewal metro station to operate soon - file
CAIRO - 27 April 2024: Egypt Today monitors the final preparations for operating the new "Gameat el-Dewal" metro station, in the Mohandiseen area in Giza, which is scheduled to operate within hours.
The new station comes as part of the operation of 5 stations that are now operating experimentally without passengers, which are the: “Al-Tawfiqia / Nile Valley / Gameat el-Dewal / Boulaq Al-Dakrour / Cairo University," within the third phase of the third metro line.
Gamaet El Dewal station is located in the middle of Gameat El Dewal El-Arabia Street, in the Mohandiseen area in Giza, and is adjacent to Mustafa Mahmoud Square, Shehab, Syria, and Mohieddin Abu El Ezz streets, and a number of important areas in the Agouza and Dokki neighborhoods.
The route of the third phase of the project extends for a length of 17.7 km and includes 15 stations from Ataba station to Kit Kat Square, branching north to the Imbaba area, reaching the ring road, and branching south to Mohandiseen and Boulaq al-Dakrour, passing through Wadi al-Nil and Gameat el-Dowal el-Arabia Streets, then extending to Cairo University.
This phase is being implemented in different parts. The first part is 4 km long, extending from Ataba to Kit Kat and including a number of (4) subway stations, namely “Nasser - Maspero - Safaa Hegazy - Kit Kat”, which is the part that was operated for passenger traffic last October.
The second part extends for a length of 6.6 km from the Kit Kat station until the final station at Rod Al-Farag axis and includes 6 stations [underground station (Sudan), 4 overhead stations (Imbaba - Al-Buhi - El-Qawmeya el-Arabia - Ring Road) and a surface station (the final station at... Rod Al-Farag Axis), which is scheduled to operate within days.
