35 health-related projects implemented in Sinai since 2014: Health Ministry

CAIRO - 25 April 2024: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population congratulated President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, and all members of the Egyptian Armed Forces, on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the liberation of Sinai that falls on April 25th of each year.
 
On this occasion, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, revealed that the Egyptian state is working in full swing to provide the best services to the people of Sinai. 
 
He added that Sinai witnessed the completion of the implementation of 35 projects in the health sector since President Sisi assumed power in 2014, and work is currently underway to implement six projects.
 
Abdel Ghaffar explained that the projects that were completed in North Sinai Governorate amounted to eight projects at a total cost of 609 million pounds, with a capacity of 170 beds, including the new Bir al-Abd Model Hospitals, Nakhl Central Hospital, the development of Al-Arish General Hospital, and the Al-Jawfa Family Medicine Unit.
 
Abdul Ghaffar added that work is underway on three other projects in North Sinai Governorate, which include the construction of the dialysis building at Al-Arish General Hospital, the Rumana Reception and Emergency Hospital, and the Baghdad Reception and Emergency Hospital, with a capacity of 166 beds and a total cost of 224 million and 257 thousand pounds.
 
The projects also include a reception and emergency hospital project in Sheikh Zuwayed with a capacity of 50 beds and a total cost of 500 million pounds.
 
Abdel Ghaffar further highlighted the completion of 27 projects in South Sinai Governorate, worth one billion, 117 million, and 172 thousand pounds, which included the Taba Central Hospital, the St. Catherine Central Hospital, the Ras Sidr Central Hospital, the Zahraa Al-Tur Family Medical Center, the Central Abu Dis, in addition to the development of the pyramid-shaped building at Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital, the Bedouin Village Family Medicine Unit in Taba, and the Wadi Taal Family Health Unit.
 
He added that the number of projects being implemented in South Sinai Governorate includes three projects, at a cost of 2 billion, 351 million, and 773 thousand pounds, with a capacity of 211 beds, including the new Al-Tur Hospital, Dahab Central Hospital, and Nuweiba Hospital, while preparations are underway to launch the joint laboratory in Al-Tur at an estimated cost around 100 million pounds.
