Egypt, Turkish FMs discuss bilateral ties, regional issues
CAIRO- 20 April 2024: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry held a Tête-à-tête meeting with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on his official account on X on Saturday.
Both Ministers addressed the joint efforts towards advancing relations between Egypt and Turkey at all levels, and joint coordination on regional & international challenges, Abu Zeid continued.
The Egyptian Minister headed to Turkey on Friday evening after a one-day visit to South Africa, where he attended the joint committee's proceedings between Egypt and South Africa’s d witnessed signing two memoranda of Understanding on cooperation in water management and justice fields.
It is scheduled that Shoukry, during his visit to Turkey, will meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Abu Zeid said in a previous statement that Shoukry’s visit to Turkey come in light of taking joint steps by Egypt and Turkey to enhance the pace of cooperation and raise the level of bilateral relations, and follow up on the implementation of what was agreed upon during the recent meeting of the leaderships of the two countries in Cairo.
He added that the Egyptian Minister’s visit aims at coordination and consultation on ways to confront challenges and crises on the two regional and international arenas.
