File- Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry handed over the presidency of the UN Climate Change Conference to COP28 President-designate Sultan Al-Jaber on Thursday.
CAIRO – April 19, 2024: On Thursday evening, April 18, Sameh Shoukry, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, departed for Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, to lead the Egyptian delegation at the 10th session of the Joint Committee between Egypt and South Africa, as announced in a statement by Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Shoukry's agenda includes initial political discussions with his South African counterpart, Naledi Pandor, focusing on bilateral relations and avenues for their enhancement. Additionally, they will engage in consultations on various regional and international issues of mutual concern, Abu Zeid stated.
Among the topics of discussion will be developments in the Gaza Strip conflict, matters pertaining to the African Union, and the overall peace and security landscape across the African continent, Abu Zeid added.
Furthermore, several memorandums of understanding and agreements aimed at advancing common interests will be signed during this session, further solidifying the cooperative and friendly ties between the two nations, Abu Zeid elaborated.
The joint committee meetings between Egypt and South Africa are held on a biennial basis, serving to monitor and bolster cooperation across diplomatic, political, security, economic, and social domains.
