Gas ships runs aground in Gulf of Aqaba - Ministry of Environment

CAIRO - 14 April 2024: The Marine Pollution Control Center in Sharm El Sheikh is in a state of emergency in case of any pollution or leaks from an international gas ship that had run aground in the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea and then was refloated. 

 

According to a Saturday statement by the Ministry of Environment, there is also ongoing legal and technical procedures by the Nature Reserves Administration regarding the ship. 

 

The incident coincided with Eid holiday and the vacationing of many people in Red Sea resorts. Dr. Ali Abu Sunna, head of the Environmental Affairs Agency of the ministry, inspected the site of the incident at the mouth of the gulf.
