Former parliament speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour dies at age of 91

CAIRO - 6 April 2024: Minister of Justice Omar Marwan has mourned the death of former Egyptian people’s assembly speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour.

Sorour passed away at the age of 91.

The justice minister said in a statement Saturday that the Egyptian, Arab and international legal community has lost "a professor, teacher of generations, chief scholar and high-profile symbol in the profession of law, Professor Ahmed Fathi Sorour".

The minister also offered his heartfelt condolences to the family of Sorour.
