It said in a statement on Monday that it is proud to announce that Sisi has been selected as the recipient of the special PAM Prize for the year 2024, titled "Champion of Peace."
The PAM Prize is awarded annually to individuals and organizations whose outstanding contributions in various domains significantly advance political, socio-economic development, environmental protection, culture, and interreligious dialogue in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, thereby fostering peace and prosperity.
President Sisi has been chosen as the 2024 laureate “for his remarkable efforts in achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, facilitating the delivery of critical aid to the Palestinian population, and securing the release of hostages.”
“His leadership and dedication have played a pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in the region,” the note said.
“Egypt's ongoing endeavors to provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza, negotiate lasting ceasefires, and advocate for a Two-State Solution align with the principles enshrined in the UN Charter and relevant Resolutions. The nation's commitment to preventing further escalation of conflicts underscores its crucial role in safeguarding international and regional peace and security,” the note also said.
The official announcement of President Sisi as the recipient of the PAM Prize will take place during the Opening Session of the 18th PAM Plenary Session, scheduled for May 15, in Braga, Portugal. The ceremony will honor President Sisi's exemplary leadership and commendable contributions to advancing peace and cooperation in the Mediterranean region.
