CAIRO – March 31, 2024: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will receive his New Zealand counterpart Winston Peters on Monday at the headquarters of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in the new administrative capital, the Ministry said in a press release on Sunday.

A meeting between representatives of both countries in presence of the two Ministers will convene, the statement said.

Winston Peters met, on Sunday, with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (AL) who urged New Zealand to make a decision to recognize the State of Palestine in pursuit of a peaceful settlement based on the two-state solution, according to a statement released by the Arab League.

During a meeting at the Cairo-based headquarters of the Arab League, Aboul Gheit called for granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations to facilitate negotiations between the two parties on an equal footing.

The discussions between Aboul Gheit and Peters encompassed various regional and international issues of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on the Palestinian matter.

Aboul Gheit commended New Zealand's stance in denouncing the severe Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and advocating for an immediate and lasting ceasefire.

Additionally, Aboul Gheit emphasized the importance of implementing the recent resolution issued by the UN Security Council, which calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, cessation of Israeli military operations, cessation of the prolonged bloodshed against the Strip, and the provision of humanitarian relief and aid through sustainable and reliable mechanisms.
