CAIRO - 26 March 2024: Dr. Sherif El-Feel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for Vacsera and Vaccines, revealed that there is a comprehensive development in all of the company’s activities in support of providing the country’s needs for vaccines and serums.
The chairman explained the aim to provide all needs on an ongoing basis, while at the same time continuing the development of Vacsera and makes it an important African center for providing vaccines in the region, in accordance to the directions of the political leadership.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for Serums and Vaccines, Vacsera, said in statements that the first factory for manufacturing bird flu vaccines will almost be completed within 90 days, which will make Egypt an African and logistical center for providing the region’s needs of bird flu vaccine, adding that the factory is underway, and is prepared to be inaugurated soon.
He continued that the veterinary vaccine factory, which was built on an area of 6,000 square meters to produce the bird flu vaccine and 7 other veterinary products with a production capacity of 800 million doses per year on October 6, will be "an important turning point".
He added that Egypt imports about 90 percent of its needs for bird flu vaccines, noting that the factory was equipped in the 6th of October area to have the latest international technologies and conform to World Health Organization standards.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for Serums and Vaccines, Vacsera, added that the factory will manufacture 400 to 800 million doses of the bird flu vaccine, which represents meeting the country’s needs locally by 70 percent, noting that the vaccine is produced with international standards, pointing out that the factory was established on an area 6000 square meters.
In the same context, Dr. Sherif El-Feel said that Factory 60 provided large doses of the Corona vaccine, in which Egypt is cooperating with China, noting that 5 pentavalent, triple, hepatic B vaccines for infants, hepatitis B for adults, two for schools, and a tetanus toxoid vaccine will be manufactured.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for Serums and Vaccines, Vacsera, added that a large laboratory will be established for the analysis of samples of the products produced by the company to ensure quality, noting that the farm for making scorpion, snake and other vaccines will be developed.
Dr. Sherif al-Feel said that it provides therapeutic services at state expense, in the specialties of internal medicine, the digestive system, obstetrics and gynecology, heart and bone diseases, and dermatology, in addition to more precise specialties such as diabetes, and diseases related to the endocrine glands, allergies, immunity, teeth, and genetics, under the supervision of a distinguished elite.
The Managing Director of the Holding Company for Biological Preparations and Vaccines (Vacsera) explained the provision of medical examination services, including x-rays and analyses, and the provision of all blood bags of all types and blood components, including plasma and platelets, through the Vacsera Blood Bank 24 hours a day, on all days of the week, including holidays and official holidays. For easy availability of blood transfusion services, he pointed out that the treatment unit provides its medical services to patients with thalassemia and hemophilia.
