CAIRO – 17 March 2024: Aswan governor Ashraf Atiya announced that, in coordination with relevant authorities, air operations have been suspended at Aswan and Abu Simbel International Airports. Additionally, river navigation along the Nile River from Aswan to Abu Simbel and at Lake Nasser has been halted due to reduced visibility caused by a dust storm affecting Aswan.

The governor instructed the Aswan Traffic Department to alert drivers of vehicles and cars on highways to reduce their speed, exercise caution to prevent traffic accidents, and prioritize the safety of citizens and tourist groups. This directive particularly emphasizes the "Aswan-Abu Simbel" tourist road and the western desert road "Aswan-Cairo."

The General Authority of Meteorology (EMA) announced that Egypt will experience unsettled weather from Sunday, March 17, 2024, to Friday, March 22, 2024, with varying intensity of rainfall expected in different areas, accompanied by windy conditions in some regions.

Warm weather is anticipated in the northern governorates up to Greater Cairo. However, southern Sinai is expected to be hot, while the southern governorates will experience cold temperatures at night and in the early morning in most areas.
