CAIRO – March 15 2024: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi warned against the peril of an Israeli potential invasion of Palestinian Rafah.

“We are striving to halt the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip while also endeavoring to facilitate the delivery of the maximum amount of aid possible […] We aim to create a real opportunity for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with international recognition,” President Sisi spoke at the Police Academy on Friday morning.

President Sisi visited the Police Academy at dawn today, Friday, to inspect the students and engage in a dialogue with them regarding both domestic and regional affairs. He commended the students for their discipline and the skills they have acquired, emphasizing the state's commitment to selecting the most capable personnel to uphold the nation's security.

In his speech, President Sisi affirmed that Egypt issued warnings in advance regarding the spillover of the conflict in the region due to the events unfolding in Gaza.

“The conflict in Gaza has endured for over five months since last October 7th. We are exerting all sincere and honest efforts to negotiate a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to safeguard and rescue our people in Gaza, particularly innocent civilians,” he said.

Regarding the Egyptian economic situation, President Sisi assured the Egyptians that the country has no issues with goods or any supplies.

He said that global events and their ensuing repercussions over the past four years, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and subsequently, the events in Gaza, have had a significant adverse effect on the economy in Egypt. “Nevertheless, I can affirm briefly that with the measures implemented in recent weeks, we are striving to steer our economic trajectory back on course and enhance it,” he added.

President Sisi continued that Egypt has achieved a preliminary agreement with the International Monetary Fund and has received support from the World Bank and the European Union, saying that these efforts, along with other measures undertaken by the state, represent decisive steps toward improving, developing, and reforming our economic situation definitively.
