CAIRO – 1 March 2024: Egypt's flag carrier, EgyptAir, was forced to cancel Flight MS835 from Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, to Cairo after the aircraft's engine encountered a bird strike during takeoff from the runway.

Following the incident, EgyptAir arranged accommodations for the 116 passengers who were onboard the Boeing 737/800 plane at hotels in Kigali.

The aircraft is currently undergoing inspection to assess and address the effects of the bird strike.

On Thursday, EgyptAir diverted Flight MS985, originally headed from Cairo to New York, to provide medical assistance to a passenger who experienced a sudden health issue.

Immediate first aid was administered to the affected woman prior to the aircraft making an emergency landing at Geneva Airport.

The plane resumed its journey to New York later.
