CAIRO – 26 February 2024: Palestinian Authority's Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said on Monday that he has officially submitted his government's resignation to President Mahmoud Abbas.
During a press conference, Monday Shtayyeh explained that there are efforts to transform the authority into ‘an administrative tool’, stressing that ‘this will never happen’.
He added that the government will continue in confrontation with Israel until the establishment of the Palestinian state," adding: “The Authority will continue to struggle to confront the practices of the Israeli occupation.”
He also said that the next stage requires new arrangements to ensure unity.
He explained that the decision to resign came in light of the genocide committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
