CAIRO – 25 February 2024: A ferry carrying workers in Giza's Monsha'et El Kanater sank on Saturday, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least three individuals and leaving four others hospitalized due to drowning-induced asphyxia, according to preliminary figures provided by the Ministry of Health.
Ten ambulanced rushed to the area, transporting the injured to Mubarak Central Hospital in the city.
Three of the injured were discharged after receiving necessary healthcare but one remains under medical observation at the hospital, according to the ministry.
Search operations for missing individuals are still ongoing, with ambulances stationed at the scene.
The Ministry of Health has announced an increased level of preparedness in surrounding hospitals.
The ferry was carrying 10 workers when it sank in Nekla village, according to media reports.
The Public Prosecution has initiated an investigation into the incident.
