CAIRO – 20 February 2024: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Tuesday Leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement Ammar al-Hakim and an accompanying delegation in Cairo.
In the meeting attended by General Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel, President Sisi expressed support to Iraq's efforts aimed at reinforcing security, stability and development.
On his side, Hakim asserted the strength and depth of the relations between Egypt and Iraq, stressing the former's role in protecting security and stability in the Arab region and valuing its stances on backing Iraq as well as all Arab and Islamic countries.
The two sides discussed regional tensions and the Gaza War so that the president presented Egypt's intensified efforts on attaining a ceasefire and sufficiently delivering humanitarian aid. They also affirmed that the international community should fulfill its duties pertinent to protecting civilians and pushing for a truce.
The Egyptian president and the Iraqi politician underscored the necessity of a comprehensive and fair settlement of the Palestinian Cause and warned of the dangers of escalation for its repercussions on regional stability.
