CAIRO - 5 February 2024: Egyptian Minister of Transport, Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, and Minister of Business Sector Dr. Mohamed Esmat held an expanded meeting to discuss joint cooperation in localizing the bus industry in Egypt.
This comes within the framework of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to localize the transportation industry in Egypt, under the slogan of “No import of any buses from abroad”.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the Holding Company for Land and Maritime Transport, Superjet, Acta, the Holding Company for Engineering, Al-Nasr Automotive, the Internal and International Land Transport Regulatory Authority, and the Vice President of the Transport Projects Planning Authority.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Transport confirmed that the Ministry seeks to implement a comprehensive plan to localize the industry of all means of transportation, including the localization of the bus industry, especially focusing on increasing the proportions of the local component of this industry.
They also emphasized the permanent development of these proportions, indicating that leading companies in this regard are national ones, specialized in producing all types of buses (whether powered by electricity, gas or diesel), such as Al-Nasr Company.
During the meeting, the current manufacturing capabilities of Al-Nasr Automotive Company and its comprehensive development plan were reviewed, and full support for this cooperation was emphasized, the results of which will be a successful start in the field of localization of the bus industry in Egypt, in accordance with the latest international specifications, and in a way that contributes to providing the highest standards.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to hold intensive meetings between specialists from both sides to activate this cooperation, and to coordinate a field tour for the Ministers of Transport and Business Sector and Al-Nasr Motors Company to inspect the production lines and the company’s capabilities in a way that contributes to supporting the localization of this industry.
