CAIRO – 28 January 2024: The Egyptian National Dialogue will resume its activities of the second phase by discussing the economic situation, announced Diaa Rashwan, the general coordinator of the National Dialogue.

He said that the dialogue will begin immediately by responding to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s recent call to focus on the economic situation during the second phase of the national dialogue meetings. The National Dialogue is a platform aiming to bridge the gap between the government and the citizens, ensuring that voices from all segments of society, especially the youth, are heard and addressed.

Holding the economic sessions aims to reach specific and detailed recommendations and procedures, which will be urgently submitted to the President of the Republic, to effectively deal with the economic challenges facing this country, Rashwan said.

So, the Board of Trustees invited to all participants in the dialogue, whether entities or individuals, to send the technical secretariat of the dialogue their specific and detailed written perceptions of the various issues and challenges of the current Egyptian economy, within two weeks by February 11.

Rashwan explained that the Board of Trustees had received from Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly a document titled “The most prominent strategic directions of the Egyptian economy during the period 2024-2030,” and it will be presented as one of the main papers in the national dialogue during its first period.

He added that the Board of Trustees will determine later the sessions regarding the political and societal axes.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi announced Wednesday launching a national dialogue on the country’s economic status saying that there was a need for a “thorough national dialogue” on the Egyptian economy.

Egypt is facing harsh conditions on its Western, Eastern, and Southern borders, President Sisi affirmed saying, “I understand the amount of economic pressure on Egyptians, the tough circumstances, and price hikes. Yet, I trust the resilience of the Egyptian people in the face of crises that impact our lives and economy.”
