Egyptian president meets with PM, CBE governor to discuss economic performance

CAIRO – 31 December 2023: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hassan Abdallah to discuss the performance indicators of both the global and Egyptian economies as well as those of the banking sector.

The CBE governor displayed the recently issued decisions and that will go into effect in January 2024. Those include exempting individual customers from online transaction fees to push forward financial inclusion and digital transformation.

The meeting also tackled securing production inputs in sectors of priority. The president similarly stressed bolstering efforts in the realms of empowering the private sector and attracting more foreign investments.
