Egyptian students stranded in Sudan evacuated: Foreign Ministry

CAIRO – 27 December 2023: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Wednesday the Egyptian Embassy in Sudan evacuated 18 male and female students and some of their family members who were stranded in the city of Wad Madani, Al-Jazira state, as armed clashes recently spread.

The Foreign Ministry said it coordinated with the Sudanese authorities to secure the evacuation of Egyptian students from the city, and they arrived safely at the headquarters of the Egyptian Consulate in Port Sudan and were transported to the Egyptian borders.

In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on all Egyptian citizens in Sudan to quickly leave, and said it disallowed any Egyptian citizens to travel to Sudan at the current stage
