CAIRO - 19 December 2023: The Egyptian Naval Forces received the “Al-Qadir” frigate of the (MEKO-A200) model after completing the receipt procedures in the German city of (Bremerhaven) to join the Egyptian naval fleet.
The new frigate was built by the (TKMS) company at the German (SBN) arsenal according to the latest systems.
This comes within the framework of enhancing the capabilities of the Egyptian Naval Forces.
Lieutenant General Ashraf Atwa, Commander of the Naval Forces, raised the Egyptian flag on the “Al-Qadir” frigate, which is the third out of four MEKO-A200 frigates contracted between Egypt and Germany.
This took place in the presence of a number of commanders of the Egyptian and German naval forces, the Egyptian ambassador to Germany, and the military attaché and a number of representatives of the German company (TKMS), which manufactured the “Al-Qadir” frigate.
Lieutenant General Ashraf Atwa, Commander of the Navy, delivered a speech in which he conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Lieutenant General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, to the German Naval Forces and the German company (TKMS), pointing out the effort they are making.
During the past period, the Egyptian Navy re-modernized and developed the naval fleet and its infrastructure, including docks, bases, facilities, and various services.
The Al-Qadeer frigate is a tremendous technological addition to the capabilities of the naval forces, and aims to develop the ability to confront the challenges and dangers surrounding our region, in order to preserve our capabilities, uphold the nation’s word, and achieve full control over our coasts extending in the Red and Mediterranean Seas.
