US amb. to Egypt says will work with Sisi for ‘just peace’ in the region

CAIRO - 18 December 2023: U.S. ambassador  to Egypt, Hero Mustafa Garg, said in a Monday statement the U.S. looks forward to an ongoing “strong partnership” with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. 

As the Gaza crisis approaches three months, the ambassador thanked Egypt’s leadership for its role in the region, promising to “work steadfastly with President Sisi and the Egyptian government to achieve a just, lasting, and secure peace.”

Following Sisi’s win in the presidential elections, Garg said “the relationship between the U.S. and Egypt includes a full range of shared priorities, including promoting regional stability and security, deepening economic and trade relations, and strengthening people-to-people and cultural ties between Americans and Egyptians.”
