Egypt's 3 churches congratulate Sisi on securing new presidential term

CAIRO - 18 December 2023: The three Egyptian churches have released statements on Monday congratulating President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on assuming the presidency of the republic for a new presidential term. 

 

“On behalf of the Council of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops in Egypt, and all Catholic institutions and bodies, and on my own behalf, we congratulate His Excellency Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on assuming the position of President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, for a new presidential term, read a statement by the Coptic Catholic Patriarch, Bishop Ibrahim Isaac

Patriarch of Alexandria for Coptic Catholics. 

 

He further added that "the Church affirms its full support for the political leadership, and its prayers for the completion of the development process towards the new republic, and success for the good of our beloved Egypt and its great people.”

 

The Coptic Orthodox Church, headed by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, congratulated His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on his election to a new presidential term.

 

"On this occasion, we value and salute the patriotism and awareness of the Egyptian people, who went out with tens of millions to the ballot boxes, with a vote percentage that reached (…), to declare their sincere will to complete the process of development and achievements, and to protect the country’s capabilities during this delicate stage," read the statement.

 

"We pray that God will protect our dear homeland, Egypt, and guide its elected president and its various institutions in all sectors to achieve the benefit of its great people, and place it in the position it deserves."

 

For his part, Dr. Pastor Andre Zaki congratulates His Excellency President Sisi on renewing the confidence of all Egyptians and winning the Egyptian presidential elections

 

Dr. Pastor Andre Zaki, the head of the Evangelical community in Egypt, said that the great Egyptian people have proven to everyone that they are capable of choosing and participating for a better life for their country, as he commented on President Sisi's election for a new presidential term. 

 

"The president is able to continue building the modern Egyptian state with firm feet and a sincere national vision. The political leadership succeeded in maintaining the authentic Egyptian international position in foreign relations to ensure the stability and safety of our dear country, Egypt," he added. 

 

Dr. Reverend Andre Zaki sent a congratulatory telegram to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El- saying:

 

“The Evangelical community in Egypt, led by Dr. Reverend Andre Zaki, congratulates His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on renewing the confidence of the masses of the great Egyptian people, and on electing the president for a new presidential term.”

 

“The great Egyptian people have proven to everyone that they are capable of choosing and participating for the sake of a better life for their country, and that His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is capable of continuing to build the modern Egyptian state with firm feet, a sincere national vision, and establishing the foundations of justice and social protection to confront the challenges that affect life and livelihood. The Egyptians, and the political leadership succeeded in maintaining the authentic Egyptian international position in foreign relations, to ensure the stability and safety of our dear country, Egypt.”
