CAIRO – 13 December 2023: Head of the State Information Service Diaa Rashwan said on Wednesday Egypt is exerting intensive efforts to ensure the continued entry of humanitarian aid to brothers in the Gaza Strip to help them face the catastrophic humanitarian conditions they are experiencing as a result of the bloody Israeli aggression that has been going on for 68 days now.
As of yesterday, relief aid trucks began crossing Rafah border terminal to Karam Abu Salem crossing in implementation of an agreement with the Israeli side, he added.
He said the agreement will increase the number of aid trucks entering the Gaza Strip by 60 to 80 per day, noting that it was agreed to increase the amount of fuel entering the Strip daily from 129,000 liters to 189,000 in addition to two domestic gas trucks.
Since the start of aid entry to Palestinian brothers, 3,866 tons of medical supplies was allowed into the Strip in addition to 22,799 tons of food, 13,936 tons of water, 222 tents and 5,073 tons of other relief materials.
Also, 48 ambulances and 2,678 tons of fuel were brought into the Strip during the same period, he said, adding that the number of trucks that crossed Rafah terminal into the Gaza Strip reached 4,057.
During this period, Egypt received 773 injured and patients from Gaza for treatment in Egyptian hospitals and other friendly countries, he said, adding that 14,023 foreign nationals and 2,135 Egyptians were allowed into Egypt from the Gaza Strip.
Rashwan stressed that Egypt will continue its utmost efforts to accelerate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip in a bid to mitigate the effects of the unprecedented humanitarian crisis the Palestinian brothers are enduring
