CAIRO – 12 December 2013:  Voting domestically in Egypt’s 2024 Precedential Elections has officially ended after closing the poll stations on Tuesday at 9 Pm, ending three-day of voting process that witnessed unprecedented turnout from all society segments.

First Day

Thousands of polling stations in the 2024 Presidential election witnessed a high turnout on the first day of the three-day voting.

Voting kicked off on Sunday at 9 AM with thousands of polling stations spread nationwide opened their doors to around 67 million voters until 9 PM to choose between four candidates: incumbent President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who has been in post for two terms since 2014; Farid Zahran, head of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party; Abdel Sanad Yamama, Head of Al-Wafd Party; and Hazem Omar, head of the Republican People’s Party.

State officials and ministers have joined the masses of citizens casting their ballots at polling stations spread across Egypt, encouraging citizens to exercise their right in choosing their leader for the next six years.

At 9 AM sharp, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, president since 2014, voted in the elections. First Lady Entissar Amer has also cast her ballot in the same polling station in Heliopolis, Cairo.

Egypt’s National Elections Authority [NEA] announced on Sunday that electoral Process is flowing regularly and smoothly

Minor irregularities have been monitored as the National Elections Authority referred a female voter for investigation for voting twice in the presidential election abroad and at home.

Second day

The Second day of the 2024 Egyptian Presidential election witnessed an unprecedented participation rate with 45 percent of eligible voters per data issued on Monday noon by the National Election Authority (NEA).

The polling stations opened at 9:00 AM and received large numbers of voters nationwide, amid high participations by women and elderly people.

 Those who cast their votes in the presidential elections as of 12:00 PM on Monday constitute approximately 45% of the total number of eligible voters, said Ahmed Al-Bendari, Director of the Executive Board of the National Elections Authority (NEA) in a statement on Monday.

He added that some polling stations ran out of ballot voters due to the high turnout. The Presidential electoral process went regularly in all polling stations nationwide without any difficulties or obstacles for voters, Bendari continued.

Due to the high turnout, Bandari directed the judges supervising the elections to allow voters to cast their ballots in the presidential elections with expired national ID cards. He also directed that voters inside the polling station are allowed to cast their ballots even after the end of voting time.

Egypt’s youth marked a remarkable attendance rate at polling stations, carrying Egyptian flags and participating in marches to urge citizens to vote.

Women, also took the lead and appearing at forefront of the Elections scene with the highest attendance rates at the polling station on Monday, same as the first day of Egypt’s 2024 Presidential elections. For instance, in Giza polling stations women have lined up since the early morning to cast their ballots. Also, more lines and crowed of women were seen at Port Fuad city and Al Qanatir Al Khayriyyah.

In Al Asmarat neighborhood, women made huge turn outs in front of polling stations, and took their children to Tahya Misr 1 school [polling station] to cast their votes on the second day of the Egyptian presidential elections.

And despite the health conditions of some elderly people; however, it did not prevent them from being present in front of the polling stations from the first hours to cast their ballots as they were seen all over the country not just participating, but urging all Egyptians to vote.

Third, last day

Polling stations of the third and last day of 2024 Presidential Elections closed its closes its doors on Tuesday 9 pm, which ends the voting process domestically that lasted for three days in a row.

Egypt’s NEA, however, affirmed that all polling stations will continue operating until all voters inside electoral complexes are finished casting ballots.

Shortly after 9 pm, the counting of electoral votes has begun inside poll stations that closed its doors.

Central Operations Room of Egypt’s National Elections Authority [NEA] headed by Ahmed Bandari contacted the polling stations’ heads through video and audio calls on Tuesday to follow up with the latest updates of the third elections day of Egypt’s 2024 Presential Election.

All Judges affirmed during the calls that the voting process is flowing regularly without any obstacles.

Egypt’s NEA affirmed that polling stations in all governorates witness heavy turnout of voters and that all of the sup-polling stations will keep working until the last voter inside electoral complexes is finished.

It was confirmed, however that there will be extension for 4th day in Egypt’s 2024 Presidential Elections.

The third and last day of voting domestically in the 2024 Presidential Election kicked off Tuesday. The number of eligible voters is 67 million, and that of candidates is four, including the incumbent president.

The 2024 presidential election is the fifth multi-party presidential elections that the country has witnessed in its modern history. The 2024 elections gain their importance from being a major step in the country’s path towards democratic transformation, party pluralism and political competitiveness, which came after a year and a half of serious and unprecedented national dialogue, which included all components Egyptian political, union and civil society.

The 2024 Presidential Elections for citizens inside the country is taking place a few days after the three-day voting process for Egyptians abroad was concluded early in December.

The final result will be announced on December 18 if no run-off is required. Voting inside the country will take place from 10-12 December.
