International observers at polling stations in Egypt
CAIRO - 2 December 2023: The international observer team of the Arab Organization for Human Rights praised the transparency of the National Elections Authority (NEA) in dealing with different aspects of the voting process.
The team said that the NEA acknowledged the delay in opening certain polling stations, responded to voter complaints related to the methods and procedures for voting with an invalid national ID card, as well as facilitated the modification of the location of polling stations to suit the needs of elderly voters or people with disabilities.
In a report on Tuesday, the international observers team noted the accessibility provided for persons with disabilities and the elderly to enable them to cast their votes, and the availability of information placed clearly outside the polling stations to guide them.
They confirmed that voting papers for people with visual disabilities were used in Braille.
The team highlighted the large turnout by women voters, in addition to the availability of medical requirements at polling stations to deal with any health emergency that voters may be exposed to during their participation.
