CAIRO – 11 December 2023: In a letter to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, a 17-year-old Palestinian boy, who was severely injured by Israeli shelling on his town of Khan Younis in Gaza, asking for accelerating his transport to an Egyptian hospital before amputating of his leg.

“I suffered burns and remained in a coma for several days. When I woke up, I found my leg had platinum and I knew that it was shattered and in a difficult condition, and my leg is threatened with amputation,” said Abd al-Rahman Muhammad Ahmad Abd al-Ghafour in his letter.

“As a result of the crowding in the hospitals, I was taken out and informed that I would be referred for treatment abroad. However, a few days later, my leg turned blue. When they took me with the wheelchair to the hospital, they found that there was a deformity and that it needed new fracture surgeries. There was a real danger to my leg, and I was afraid of amputation,” added Ghafour, the only survivor in his family from the Israeli war on Gaza.

Ghafour’s name is on the list of the Palestinian patients who will be treated in Egyptian hospitals but he wrote his letter to accelerate his transportation.
