CAIRO – 8 December 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi inspected on Friday the construction work to develop a number of roads and axes in Greater Cairo.
The tour included an inspection of the construction work on the Major General Mahmoud Nasr Axis, which is one of the most important new main axes being constructed to reduce traffic loads on the Cairo-Suez and Cairo-Ismailia roads. It is 19 km long, starting from the intersection of the Middle Ring Road to the Adly Mansour Interchange Station, which helps the smooth flow of transportation to eastern Cairo, in the neighbourhoods of Heliopolis and Gesr Suez, all the way to the central and western Cairo.
The President checked on the progress of work from the workers and stressed the importance of this axis to change the traffic pattern in Cairo and to serve citizens by providing different movement opportunities for vehicles, in addition to supporting the development approach pursued by the state.
The President gave directives to continue considering the maintenance of the quality of implementation and taking into account the environmental aspect while constructing various roads in Cairo, in accordance with international specifications, as well as preparing a study to find the best ways to use the lands surrounding these roads.
