CAIRO – 5 December 2023: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Tuesday his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides at Al Itihadiyah Presidential Palace as they discussed cooperation in the energy sector and bolstering relations on the bilateral level and the trilateral level with Greece.
The two chiefs of state also tackled the escalation in Gaza as President Sisi presented the efforts deployed by Egypt to reach a permanent ceasefire, stressing the necessity that the international community fulfills its duties with that regard. The Egyptian president equally expressed the country's readiness to receive and coordinate international aid to the Strip.
On his side, the Cypriot president valued the Egyptian eager endeavors to accomplish pacification and alleviate the humanitarian suffering, expressing his country's Keenness on continuous coordination with Egypt on that matter. That is in the framework of the two countries' prioritization of preserving regional and international peace and stability.
In that context, President Sisi underscored the salience of pushing for the two-state solution, establishing an independent Palestinian State having as capital Eastern Jerusalem.
