CAIRO - 3 December 2023: Egyptian expatriates cast their votes for the third consecutive day in the 2024 presidential elections, with 104 sub-committees abroad already in the process, and 33 more set to open in the coming hours.

Ahmed Bendary, director of the National Election Authority, announced the commencement of the third day of voting during a recent press conference at the central operations room of the National Authority. Bendary urged ambassadors overseeing committees abroad to facilitate citizens holding expired national identity cards to enable them to cast their votes.

Bendary, overseeing the central room equipped with live television broadcasting technology, engaged in video conferences with ambassadors and heads of committees abroad, ensuring the smooth progress of the election monitoring center. The central room's technology allows real-time communication with embassies and consulates globally.

The voting process commenced on the third day in New Zealand, with a significant turnout reported. The voting window runs from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM local time in each country. Notably, the electoral process spans 137 embassies and consulates in 121 countries globally, adhering to Resolution No. 27 of 2023 issued by the Board of Directors of the National Election Authority.

Ambassadors and committee heads abroad briefed Bendary on the second day of voting, highlighting its smooth operation without any obstacles. The National Election Authority had previously conducted a successful trial run of the devices and software used in the electoral process.

The National Election Authority established a central operations room with television broadcasting technology, directly connecting with embassies and consulates, both in audio and visual formats, to monitor Egyptians casting their votes globally.

The voting process for Egyptians abroad in the 2024 presidential elections proceeds systematically, with the specified voting hours adjusted to each country's local time, enabling citizens to participate in the electoral process from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The authority emphasized that every Egyptian citizen registered in the voter database and present outside the country during the designated three days for elections can vote using either their national identity card or a valid passport.

The electoral process takes place in 137 embassies and consulates in 121 countries worldwide, in line with the resolutions set by the National Election Authority. The successful and organized overseas voting demonstrates Egyptians' commitment to contributing to the democratic process and expressing their will in determining the future leadership of the country.
