The commendation came during a meeting between President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at the sidelines of the "28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change" in Dubai.
Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and political coordination. Both sides valued the close ties between Egypt and the United Kingdom and expressed their aspiration to further activate these ties across various fields.
The meeting also delved into discussions on climate action developments in light of the Dubai Climate Summit, as well as the current situation in the Gaza Strip. The UK Prime Minister acknowledged the diligent efforts undertaken by Egypt in this context, especially in coordinating international efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance to the region.
Both parties agreed on the severity of the current situation, especially considering the uncalculated consequences of expanding the conflict on regional stability. President el-Sisi reviewed Egypt's efforts in facilitating a calm atmosphere, emphasizing the need to protect civilians and seek a political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
