Egypt’s President El-Sisi heads to Dubai to participate in COP 28

CAIRO - 30 November 2023: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi headed to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, to participate in the 28th session of the UN Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP28).

“The president’s participation in the conference comes as per the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, president of the UAE, whose country will assume the presidency of the Conference of the Parties,” said Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, in a statement.

“President El-Sisi will review the efforts Egypt made as president of the Conference of the Parties over the past year, which mainly focused on climate change impact on developing countries in general and African countries in particular,” Fahmy added.

Fahmy continued that the Egyptian efforts aimed at advancing international climate action, as well as stressing the need for developed countries to adhere to their commitments as per the framework of the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement.

“The program of the president's visit to Dubai will also include meeting with a number of heads of state and government,” Fahmy concluded.
