Who submitted 16 briefing requests to question Egypt’s PM on Gaza?

CAIRO - 21 November 2023: Sixteen members of parliament of diverse backgrounds have submitted briefing requests for the prime minister to hear the government’s measures against an Israeli scheme to displace Palestinians in Sinai.

The 16 lawmakers, however, are concentrated in North Sinai, which borders Gaza, and Sharkia, which borders North Sinai.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly will answer to the parliamentarians on Tuesday.

The MPs from North Sinai are Sheikh Jazi Saad, who belongs to Wafd Party, Ibrahim Abu Shaira from Humat Al-Watan party, and Aziz Matar from Mostakbal Watan.

The MPs from Sharkia are Ahmed Fouad Abaza from Mostakbal Watan Party, and Atef Maghawry from Tagammu National Progressive Party.

The only female lawmaker in the list is Amira Saber of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party.

The rest of the MPs are Abdel Hadi Al-Qasabi, head of the majority Support Egypt Coalition and a member of Mostakbal Watan party, Ahmed Khalil Khairallah, who belong to Salafi Nour Party and represents Arab tribes in northern Egypt, Emad Khalil, who belongs to the Coordination of Party Youth and Politicians.

The list goes on to include independent veteran Mustafa Bakri, independent MP Diaa El-Din Daoud from Damietta, the Delta. 

The others from the Delta Ahmed Al-Awadi of Dakahlia and Humat Al-Watan party, and Abdel Moneim Imam from Gharbia and Adl party.

From Upper Egypt there are Karim Darwish from Mostakbal Watan Party, Tariq Radwan from Sohag and Mostakbal Watan Party. 

Finally, MP Mohamed Tayseer Matar from Iradet Geel party is also one of the briefing requests submitters.

There are so many briefing requests over the same issue because of overwhelming concern across Egypt over the idea and demands to know how the government counters the Israeli propaganda. The diverse background of the MPs reflect that all Egyptians are interested in the subject and categorically reject the Israeli idea.
