Al-Azhar sends aid convoy of 40 trucks to besieged Gaza

CAIRO – 19 November 2023: Under the directives of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, the largest relief convoy of the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House (EZCH) is being sent ‎to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif said in a statement on Sunday.

The EZCH convoy set off for the Rafah border crossing on Saturday under the directives of Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif ‎Ahmad Al-Tayyeb.

The convoy consists of 40 trucks loaded with medicines, food and relief materials, and ‎shelter and living supplies, the statement added.

This is the second convoy sent by the EZCH as part of a campaign launched by the Grand ‎Imam in the beginning of the Israeli  occupation’s aggression against our people in the Gaza ‎Strip, the statement continued.

“This initiative is driven by a religious and a legal duty and a sense of humanitarian and moral ‎commitment towards our brothers and sisters in Gaza.

“It aims to help them in the face of the ‎stifling siege, bombing, killing, and displacement that they are suffering, which has resulted, to ‎date, in the martyrdom of more than 11,000 innocent citizens, nearly half of whom is children,” the statement added.

The first convoy was launched by the end of October and constituted 18 trucks loaded with ‎medicines, and medical, food, and relief materials.
