President Sisi agrees with Russian counterpart to intensify efforts toward ceasefire in Gaza

CAIRO – 14 November 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi discussed with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the latest developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip during a phone call on Tuesday.

According to Presidency Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy, President Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to achieve calm and the steps it is undertaking to deliver relief aid and evacuate foreign nationals and wounded Palestinians.

President Sisi and President Putin agreed to intensify international efforts toward an immediate ceasefire, and toward allowing the urgent access to humanitarian aid and taking the necessary measures to protect civilians and stop the bloodshed. This shall pave the way for the political track, with the aim of resolving the conflict, based on the two-state solution.

The call also tackled ways to foster closer bilateral relations in a range of joint cooperation areas.
