Sisi's Presidential Campaign Chief Engages with Grand Mufti in Enlightening Dar Al-Ifta Meeting

In continuation of the official campaign activities for presidential candidate Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Mahmoud Fawzy, the head of the electoral campaign, met with Dr. Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta.

Expressing his delight at visiting the esteemed Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta, Mahmoud Fawzy, the head of the electoral campaign for presidential candidate Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, emphasized the institution's rich history of communicating the tenets of the tolerant religion. He commended Dar Al-Ifta for clarifying religious and worldly matters for Muslims, removing any ambiguities in their understanding.

Fawzy noted the significant development witnessed by Dar Al-Ifta during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's tenure since 2014. The institution has achieved local, regional, and global success, reclaiming its leadership in issuing religious edicts (fatwas) after adopting effective institutional work. Dar Al-Ifta has become a major reference in Islamic jurisprudence and knowledge.

He praised Dar Al-Ifta for issuing millions of fatwas on various issues, translating its encyclopedia into multiple languages, establishing new departments, opening branches in governorates, and creating the General Secretariat for Dar Al-Ifta in the world, along with its global fatwa index and search engine. Fawzy acknowledged the institution's role in facilitating Muslims' lives, combating extremism and terrorism, dispelling radical fatwas, and presenting the true moderate image of Islam.

During the meeting, Fawzy highlighted Dar Al-Ifta's societal role, particularly in family counseling, pre-marital guidance, training and qualification of muftis, and the establishment of the Observatory for Takfiri Fatwas and Extremist Views. These efforts have significantly contributed to countering religious extremism and providing responses.

Furthermore, Fawzy emphasized Dar Al-Ifta's commitment to raising awareness about the Palestinian cause, explaining its dimensions, and supporting the state's role in backing the issue. He affirmed the clear political support from the leadership towards the state institutions and their enlightening activities.

In response, Grand Mufti Shawki Allam stressed Dar Al-Ifta's significant responsibility in upholding trust and rectifying matters in line with Sharia. He noted that Dar Al-Ifta has transformed its work nature into an institutional one, highlighting its primary mission of elucidating Sharia rulings in various situations and correcting misconceptions about religious texts. Allam affirmed Dar Al-Ifta's tireless efforts in combating extremism and radicalism.

He added that they consistently advocate for and emphasize the importance of participation in constitutional events to present the Egyptian people in a civilized manner. Allam pointed out that Dar Al-Ifta has supported Egypt's position on the Palestinian issue, with Muslim scholars being the conscience of the nation and leading in various stances.
