CAIRO – 12 November 2023: Egyptian First Lady Intissar al-Sisi received Sunday a phone call from her Turkish counterpart Emine Erdogan as they discussed humanitarian aid to Gaza as well as cooperation on the empowerment of women, youth, and children.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan highlighted the need to immediately stop the ongoing Israeli bombing and military operations in the Gaza Strip.

This aims to avoid exposing civilians to further harm and loss of life and to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian conditions of the people of the Gaza Strip, the two leaders said in a Saturday meeting on the sidelines of the Joint Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh.

Sisi and Erdogan reviewed tireless efforts being exerted at all levels to contain the crisis and its humanitarian repercussions.

The two leaders also agreed on the need for continuing the key Egyptian role in delivering relief aid to the people of Gaza.

They stressed the necessity of concerted international efforts to push towards the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
