President Sisi, Al-Assad say ceasefire in Gaza is a must

CAIRO -11 November 2023: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Riyadh, on the sideline of the Joint Arab Islamic Summit on Gaza, on Saturday.

The meeting discussed developments in Gaza; both sides confirmed the firm position of the two countries in terms of rejecting the liquidation of the Palestinian issue and the displacement of Palestinians, said the Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy in a statement.

They said that reaching a ceasefire and the entry of humanitarian aid to end the suffering of the people of Gaza is a must, calling for keeping the international efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state, accordance with relevant international references.

The meeting touched on bilateral relations and developments in Syria.

The President stressed Egypt’s keenness on a comprehensive political settlement in a way that achieves the interests of the Syrian people, preserves Syria's unity and territorial integrity and restores security and stability in the country.
