CAIRO – 7 November 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President of France, Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said the phone call came within the framework of the ongoing consultations between the two Presidents on the situation in the Gaza Strip.
President Sisi and President Macron reviewed the outcomes of regional and international contacts and diplomatic efforts to contain the situation.
President Sisi emphasized the vital need to exert intensive efforts to establish a ceasefire to protect civilians and facilitate the prompt and unfettered delivery of humanitarian aid.
French President Macron confirmed that his country values and appreciates Egypt’s role along both the political and humanitarian tracks, notably its efforts to provide, coordinate and deliver aid to the Gaza Strip. This is in addition to receiving wounded Palestinians and evacuating foreign nationals. President Macron also reviewed France’s relevant relief efforts.
The two Presidents agreed to continue coordination and consultations on developments in the Middle East and to work on urging the parties to find ways to resolve the crisis, in a manner conducive to peace, the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian State.
