CAIRO – 6 November 2023: A suggestion by an Israeli minister to drop a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip offers evidence of the deviation and extremism that has befallen some decision-makers in the Israeli government, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said Sunday.

The international community must decisively confront the rhetoric of violence, hatred, and racism, the spokesman posted on his X account. "While the world is talking about nuclear disarmament and its dangers, some are thirsty for more destruction and killing.”

Earlier, the far-right Israeli Minister Amichai Eliyahu said in statements that one of Israel’s options in the war against Hamas could be to drop a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip.

in response to a radio interviewer who said to the minster: “Your expectation is that tomorrow morning we’d drop what amounts to some kind of nuclear bomb on all of Gaza, flattening them, eliminating everybody there.”

Eliyahu responded: “That’s one way”.

“The second way is to work out what’s important to them, what scares them, what deters them… They’re not scared of death.” The Israeli official added.

When the minister was asked about the 240 hostages currently held in the Gaza he said: “I pray and hope for their return, but there is a price to be paid in war”. “Why are the lives of the abductees, whose release I really want, more important than the lives of the soldiers and the people who will be murdered later?”

The Israeli minister also voiced objection to allowing any humanitarian aid into Gaza, saying “we wouldn’t hand the Nazis humanitarian aid".

The Israeli occupation forces have killed 9,572 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since the start of its aggression on October 7, announced the Palestinian Ministry of Health in a statement on Saturday.

The ongoing Israeli shelling have also destroyed 270 medical facilities and more than 200,000 housing units since the outbreak of the war, the ministry further noted, clarifying that “these figures do not reflect reality because many victims are still under the rubble.”

Israel targeted on Friday an ambulance in front of Al Shifa Medical Complex, which was transporting wounded individuals. The bombing led to the killing of at least 60 Palestinian according to Gaza Ministry of Health spokesperson, Ashraf Qudra.

The Israeli strikes also targeted the vicinity of Al-Quds and the Indonesian hospitals in Gaza. All three bombings resulted in hundreds of casualties and wounded, which is considered to be ‘war crime’ according to the international human rights conventions.

Both of Al Quds and the Indonesian hospitals suffered a lot of destruction as a result of the bombing.

The medical sector in Gaza have been reported more than once to be almost ‘collapsed’ by UN officials.

The International Committee of the Red Cross said in statement following the Israeli bombing that ambulances and medical facilities are supposed to be protected by the international law.

The statement added that the Red Cross teams are in Gaza to work to prevent the collapse of the health sector.

‘We wished we had shields to protect ambulance convoys’ the Red Cross stated.

The International Committee added that the health sector in Gaza is facing an ‘imminent catastrophe’ that did not occur before.
