CAIRO – 6 November 2023: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has discussed with Singapore and Romania counterparts the ongoing war in Gaza Strip.
During a phone call with Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Shoukry covered in detail the tragic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, and the humanitarian shock that everyone feels in light of the death toll exceeding 9,700, said spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid, adding that 4,800, are included, in addition to indiscriminate destruction of infrastructure in the Strip.
He also said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Romania, Luminita Odubescu, was briefed on the need for international parties to assume their responsibilities towards pushing the implementation of an immediate humanitarian truce to put an end to the tragic situation that the Palestinian people are undergoing.
Shoukry conveyed to his counterparts that contacts were underway to resolve the critical humanitarian and security situation in the Gaza Strip.
Shoukry stressed the inevitability of achieving an immediate, comprehensive and unconditional ceasefire.
The two officials thanked Egypt's efforts to reduce the escalation and implement humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as well as provide support and facilitate the exit of third-country nationals.
